What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They help the website recognize your device and remember important session information.
How Distill Uses Cookies
Distill maintains a strict privacy-first policy. We do NOT use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels (such as Meta Pixel or Google Ads tags), or cross-site tracking cookies.
We use only the following essential and functional storage mechanisms:
- Authentication Cookies (Essential): Set by Clerk to keep you securely signed in during your active session (`__session`, `__clerk_db_jwt`).
- Attribution Local Storage (Functional): First-party storage used strictly to measure marketing acquisition source (`acquisitionSource`, `acquisitionMedium`). This data stays strictly within Distill.
- Preferences Local Storage (Functional): Stores UI state such as cookie consent dismissal, theme preferences, and active tab selections.
Managing & Disabling Cookies
You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Please note that disabling essential authentication cookies will prevent you from signing in to your Distill account.
